Samsung Gear VR: live an immersive experience

Samsung has announced that its Gear VR virtual reality headset will arrive in Spain on February 13 at a price of 249 euros. It is a virtual reality glasses that are developed together with the company Oculus VR.

This device is a wearable from Samsung. This term refers to electronic devices that are incorporated into some part of our body for the purpose of performing some specific function. Only products that incorporate a microprocessor and are used on a daily basis are considered wearable. Because of this, we cannot consider wearablethe television, the ebook... because they are not "wearable" or "wearable". So a watch or glasses -as in this case- are.

Features Samsung Gear VR

For the operation of these glasses you need a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. This is not included in the price. The most important features are: a 96-degree field of view, proximity sensors, accelerometers, gyroscope and Samsung's Game Pad, connected by bluetooth -included in the price-. Also, as in Oculus VR, the Gear VR uses Amoled technology. This allows the pixels to turn off as the user moves his or her head. It also keeps the image sharp as the user moves. This is why Oculus VR started out using a Note 3 display in Oculus Rift.

On the side, the Gear VRs have volume controls, a small touchpad and the Android back button. This allows us to operate the smartphone without removing the virtual reality goggles.

The Gear VRs manage to get the most out of the 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. This device has a weakness that separates it from the Oculus Rift. The processor is not up to par with the processors and graphics that we can connect to an Oculus Rift.

We will still have to wait ten days to know how the Gear VR will be received in the Spanish market. In the meantime, at DeuSens we are clear that we are closer to virtual reality in every home.
