We experienced RDC 2025 from the inside: These are the biggest developments at Roblox in 2025

08.09.2025
08.09.2025

Once again, we had the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience: attending the Roblox Developers Conference 2025 as the only Spanish studio invited, alongside our partner BrandNewVerse. It was an intense few days, filled with presentations, demos, and meetings with some of the most influential developers in the Roblox ecosystem. We return with lots of ideas, inspiration... and a whole host of news that we want to share with you from our own experience in San Francisco.

So, in this blog, we're going to show you all the new features announced at RDC 2025, give you our opinion on them, and tell you about our experience at the biggest annual event for Roblox developers. We have lots of innovations to discuss, and they're generating so much excitement that they're expected to transform the platform in the coming months.

What is the Roblox Developers Conference?

The Roblox Developers Conference (RDC) is the most important annual event for the Roblox developer community. Held in San Francisco, California, it brings together creators from around the world who are building experiences, games, worlds, and tools within the platform.

Over three days, Roblox unveils its plans for the future, new engine features, and developer tools, as well as organizing talks, workshops, and meetings between studios, brands, and independent developers. It is an event designed to inspire, share knowledge, and strengthen a community that already has more than 111 million daily active users.

This year, RDC 2025 has been particularly focused on promoting generative AI, 4D creation, the monetization of experiences, and the discovery of new content within the platform. And we've experienced it all firsthand.

The 10 major Roblox announcements made at RDC 2025

These are the major new features that Roblox has unveiled in this edition, which will be implemented over the coming months:

  1. New AI tools to generate fully functional 4D objects within experiences.
  2. Voice and text APIs to create NPCs that speak, understand, and respond.
  3. Real-time voice translation for multilingual voice chats.
  4. Assistant with MCP integration, which allows complex tasks between external tools and Roblox Studio to be automated.
  5. Improvements to the graphics engine, with a focus on high-fidelity competitive experiences.
  6. New matchmaking and server authority systems to improve realism and reduce cheating.
  7. New “Roblox Moments” feature to discover experiences through short user-generated clips.
  8. Improvements in monetization, with an 8.5% increase in DevEx conversion and new advertising tools.
  9. Official licenses from major brands such as Mattel, Lionsgate, Netflix, and Sega.
  10. New security policies to protect communication between users, especially minors.

In the following sections, we will tell you in detail about each of these innovations, as we experienced them during the event.

Roblox commits to generative AI and 4D creation

One of the presentations that impressed us most was related to the new artificial intelligence tools that Roblox is integrating into its platform. It's not just theory; we saw it live: creators generating a functional car from a simple text description.

These tools allow you to create interactive 4D objects, meaning not only the 3D model, but also its logic, scripts, and behaviors integrated from the outset. This opens up a world of possibilities for both studios and users themselves, who will be able to create content directly from the experiences.

In addition, new voice APIs have been introduced with features such as:

  • Text-to-speech for narration and NPC dialogue.
  • Speech-to-text for spoken commands, such as firing a cannon by saying “fire!”
  • Simultaneous translation between users who speak different languages.

And to top it off, Roblox Studio's Assistant can now integrate with external tools such as Figma or Blockade Labs, allowing tasks to be automated with the MCP protocol. We tested it live during a demo... and it works. And very well.

A more powerful graphics engine for competitive experiences

Another major announcement was the evolution of Roblox's graphics engine to support more complex and realistic experiences, even on low-end devices.

At the event, we saw how they are working with technologies such as SLIM, which groups complex models together so that they consume fewer resources without losing quality. They also presented visual improvements to avatars and their animations, which can now run, climb, swim, and even do parkour with greater realism.

This is in addition to new features such as:

  • Server authority, which improves physics and reduces cheating by transferring control to the server.
  • Custom matchmaking, to create fairer matchups tailored to the type of experience.

During the demos, we saw how these features allow for the creation of battle royale or racing games with greater stability and control, something unthinkable in Roblox just a few years ago.

Roblox Moments: a commitment to discovery in short format

One of the most interesting announcements at RDC 2025 was the beta launch of Roblox Moments, a new feature that aims to integrate social media dynamics similar to TikTok and Instagram, but within the Roblox ecosystem.

With Moments, users can record, edit, and share short clips of their games directly from the platform. These videos not only show fun or spectacular moments of gameplay, but also allow other players to instantly join in on the same experience with the click of a button.

This new feature marks a paradigm shift: Roblox no longer wants to be just a platform where people play games, but a place where they share, interact, and build community. In other words, Roblox aims to establish itself as a native social network for Generations Z and Alpha, where gaming is just one part of the digital experience.

During the RDC, this vision was emphasized: that Roblox will become the main digital space where young people not only discover new games, but also express themselves, socialize, and entertain themselves in an environment they understand as their own.

From our experience attending the event, we believe that Moments will be a key tool in helping creators improve the visibility of their experiences and generate organic engagement, while strengthening the connection between users of the platform.

New avenues for monetization and licensing of major brands

One of the most celebrated moments of the event was the announcement of an 8.5% increase in the DevEx program conversion rate, which improves creators' earnings by transforming Robux into real money.

This is in addition to other economic developments:

  • Expansion of the regional pricing system.
  • New forms of income with engagement rewards and rewarded videos.
  • Improvements to Ads Manager for more effective internal advertising campaigns.

And we can't forget the new catalog of official licenses. Roblox presented agreements with IPs such as:

  • Netflix, Sega, Lionsgate, and Kodansha, which are returning.
  • New brands such as Mattel, with franchises such as Polly Pocket and Street Sharks.

This will allow creators to work with licensed content legally and directly within their experiences.

A safer platform for everyone

Last but not least, Roblox promises to reinforce its commitment to safety, something that is especially relevant for brands and younger users. Among the measures announced are:

  • Mandatory age verification to use communication features.
  • New systems that limit interaction between adults and minors who do not know each other in real life.

During the talks, it became clear that the platform wants to remain a safe, inclusive, and controlled environment, adapted to its huge global user base.
