GOAL ACHIEVED
To make a promotional video showing the race route in 3D, highlighting the points of interest of the city.
40th anniversary of the Valencia Marathon
Considered one of the 6 most important marathons globally, the Valencia Marathon celebrated, last December 6, 2020, its 40th anniversary. It was an atypical day, due to the restrictions due to the health crisis, which only allowed to participate to elite athletes, both in the 42 km marathon and in the 21 km half marathon.
Despite it was a delicate moment, the organization of the race did not want to suspend such a significant edition as the 2020 edition, due to the 40th anniversary. In addition, this edition had a new incentive for its development, and that is that Movistar became, a few months before the realization of the sporting event, a new official technological sponsor of the race.
Thanks to this incorporation, and the trust placed in DeuSens by Telefónica and Movistar, we had the pleasure of participating in the most special edition to date of one of the most important marathons worldwide.
3D technology for the production of the promotional video
Our participation consisted of creating a system that allowed the visualization of the route in 3D, to follow the route of the race and identify its main points of interest. Subsequently, we were also in charge of editing a promotional video showing the route that the elite athletes were going to run through the city, both for the marathon and the half marathon.
The technical realization of the video was not at all simple, since it presented the route from a free camera placed in the sky of the city, from which could be seen all the streets through which the participants ran in a perspective that varied depending on the movement of the camera, for which we had to recreate much of the map of the city of Valencia in 3D, in addition to animating the movements of the camera.
Also, as if that were not enough, the video was intended to show the main attractions of the route, showing the most important monuments and places through which the race took place. In this way, during the video it was possible to visualize, through high quality 3D modeling and detailed plans, some of the most important places and monuments of the city through which the route passed, such as, the City of Arts and Sciences or the City Hall of Valencia
