Project of Allies for Wildlife and the Bioparc Foundation

The alliance between the NGO Allies for Wildlife and the Bioparc Foundation led to an ambitious project to promote animal awareness, especially in the field of waste management and the negative impact it has on the ecosystem of certain endangered species.

Highlighting the data offered by the United Nations Organization, which indicate that every year an estimated amount of 11. 200 million tons of solid waste, Allies for Wildlife and the Bioparc Foundation decided to expose this situation and the consequences it can cause in the animal world.

And for this, they relied on DeuSens Hyperexperience to introduce an innovative element, and that differentiates this project from other awareness campaigns carried out, introducing Augmented Reality in the process with the aim of filling the Bioparc Fuengirola reciento with virtual garbage.

Technology to raise awareness of animal welfare

Both organizations decided that Reo, the Komodo dragon living in the park, would be the ambassador and protagonist of the project, his species being one of the most affected due to incorrect waste management.

The DeuSens team was in charge of conceptualizing, designing and developing the Augmented Reality Hiperexperience, through which, by visualizing the Reo installation with a Smartphone or Tablet, visitors to the park could see it full of garbage and other waste, modeled in 3D and placed virtually, observing the reality that these reptiles face on a regular basis in their natural habitat.

In addition, this Augmented Reality project was also framed in the study "Augmented Reality as an educational resource in zoological institutions" carried out by a team of researchers from the institution Allies for Wildlife, who collected data and opinions from visitors after checking their reactions to the Hyperexperience lived.
