The innovation of SmartSun awnings

Under the SmartSun brand, Okoru markets all kinds of products whose final purpose is to protect from the sun, providing shade. In this way, its main line of business is the sale of awnings, followed by the sale of tents, canopies and other accessory products.
 
This project was born from its idea of continuing to innovate in every possible aspect, to continue to stay ahead in its sector and to be a pioneer in integrating this type of technologies and tools in its marketing process.
 

Technology breaks into the sales process

In order to solve the two major problems that Okoru's sales representatives were facing when selling their SmartSun awnings, they decided to count on DeuSens' Hyperexpertise to introduce technology fully into their marketing process.
 
What were these two problems? The inability to show the final result of the product in situ in the place where it was going to be placed and the excess of time invested in showing the wide catalog of SmartSun awnings. In this way, and to solve these two drawbacks, we proposed to Okoru to develop a product configurator that would give its customers the possibility to create the perfect awning according to their needs.
 

Features of the product configurator

The product configurator consisted of software that, in this case, worked directly on SmartSun's own website, without the need for external downloads of any kind. This product configurator allowed potential customers to visualize all the available options of the different products through a hyper-realistic 3D simulation. This tool was designed to be used in an intuitive and simple way, so it was in charge of guiding the user through the whole process of configuring his customized awning.
 
  1. The first thing the user had to do was to define the size of the awning, depending on the space where it was going to be placed, selecting the type of structure, the width and the projection of shade to be given.
  2. Subsequently, the user was presented with a variety of aesthetic options and different finishes (colors, patterns, shapes, etc.).
  3. Finally, the user was allowed to vary the way the awning was operated and the type of support among other functionalities.
All these changes were made easily through a selection menu ordered by drop-down sections. The best thing about the tool was that the user could visualize in real time the changes he was making in his awning, being able, at all times, to make multiple tests combining different colors, sizes, functions, finishes and aesthetics, until finding the definitive look of his custom awning.
 
But the most interesting functionality of this product configurator, which was highly valued by Okoru, was the one that allowed the user, after completing the process of customizing the awning, integrate the final product in a series of predefined environments, superimposing the awning created on a photo of their own home or even visualizing it in Augmented Reality in the real space, thus being able to see exactly how the final product looked like, without having to imagine it.
 
This provided extra security and confidence to the potential customer when finalizing the purchase and, therefore, optimized the sales process, as well as speeding up the selection of the product that best suits the characteristics of each customer and saving time for the salesperson as the process was carried out automatically between the user and the tool. Finally, the user, after finishing the customization of the awning, could access directly to the payment gateway of the web to finalize the purchase, because our 3D product configurator was integrated with SmartSun ecommerce.
