Comunidad de Madrid | Smart Wine Tourism Platform with Augmented Reality

CLIENT
The Comunidad de Madrid drives wine tourism, within the framework of the European NextGenerationEU funds, as an engine for rural tourism across its Vinos de Madrid Denomination of Origin, spread over 25 towns and four subzones. It needed a tool able to bring its nine flagship wineries closer to today's visitor, replacing the paper brochure and map with a living, guided digital experience.
GOAL ACHIEVED
Unify discovery, visiting and loyalty for wine tourism across the Vinos de Madrid Denomination of Origin in a single digital experience.

One territory, one single entry point

Madrid's wine tourism used to live scattered across the wineries of the 25 towns within the Vinos de Madrid Denomination of Origin, spread over its four subzones, each telling its own story in its own way. DeuSens designed a progressive web app that brings the whole territory together under one narrative, with nine flagship wineries taking centre stage, accessible from a phone's browser without installing anything.

Visitors scan a code at the winery and step straight into the experience, with no sign-up and no technical friction. Technology stays in the background; what comes forward is the wine, the landscape and the story of the place.

Sol, the voice that guides the visit

Every winery tells its story through Sol, an avatar DeuSens brought into augmented reality as video overlaid on the real setting of the winery. Sol welcomes the visitor in an experience built on WebXR standards and the Needle Engine to run straight from the browser, with no heavy apps, on both Android and iOS.

Visitors can capture and share their augmented reality experience on social media, turning every visit into one more way to discover the territory. When a device doesn't support augmented reality, the same story unfolds in static format, without the experience feeling lost or incomplete.

Discovering, not just visiting

DeuSens turned the territory into a trail of clues: every stop hides a challenge and a secret. The challenge livens up the visit with a race-against-the-clock question about the place; the secret, revealed through geolocation or a QR code, awards points and a badge tied to the visitor's profile.

Badges are grouped by subzone and a ranking encourages visitors to explore more towns; completing all four subzones unlocks a special badge that crowns the conquest of the entire Denomination of Origin.

A map you can explore before you arrive

A three-dimensional map with the territory's real relief, built by DeuSens, places all 25 towns and the nine modelled wineries. Every point opens a 360º photo tour shot on location by DeuSens' own team in every town, letting visitors wander through interiors and exteriors without leaving home.

The result is a destination that can be imagined, planned and decided from the sofa, and then recognised on arrival.

A club that turns a visit into a relationship

All of a visitor's activity — badges, challenges, events — is consolidated into a single profile within the Club de Amigos del Vino, with simple sign-up and automatic notifications for new events and achievements. Each winery manages its own events autonomously from its own panel, with no third-party dependency.

Loyalty is thus built natively into the whole platform, so the bond between winery and visitor doesn't fade once the visit ends.
